What Is a Ceiling Cassette Aircon?

A ceiling cassette aircon is a type of air conditioning system installed directly into the ceiling instead of being mounted on a wall. It cools a room evenly by distributing air in two to four directions, making it ideal for larger spaces such as offices, restaurants, retail shops, and homes with open-concept layouts. Because the unit is recessed into a false ceiling, it blends seamlessly into the interior design while still delivering powerful, consistent cooling. Compared to wall-mounted units, ceiling cassette systems require more specialised knowledge to install and service, which is why choosing an experienced team matters.

Frequently Asked Question

How much does ceiling cassette aircon servicing cost in Singapore?

Our general servicing starts at around $60 per unit, though the final price depends on how many units you have. If your aircon needs a deeper clean, like a chemical wash, it typically ranges from $280 to $320 or more, depending on the size and current condition of the unit.

How often should a ceiling cassette aircon be serviced?

It really depends on where the aircon is located. For homes, having it serviced every 3 to 4 months is ideal. If it’s in a standard office space, every 3 months is a good rule of thumb. However, for high-usage areas like restaurants or cafes where dust and grease build up quickly, we highly recommend a monthly service to keep it running smoothly.

Why is my ceiling cassette aircon leaking water from the ceiling?

A leaking cassette usually means water is struggling to drain. Most of the time, this happens because the drainage pipe is choked with dirt, the drain pan is clogged, or the internal water pump is failing. A proper drainage flush or a chemical wash will usually clear the blockage and solve the leak.

Can you do a chemical wash on a ceiling cassette without removing it from the ceiling?

Yes, we can! For a standard chemical wash, we leave the unit on the ceiling and wrap a specialized, waterproof canvas bag around it to safely catch all the water and cleaning solutions. But if the aircon is severely choked and needs a full chemical overhaul, we will have to take it down completely to clean every single part.

Why is the air blowing out of my cassette aircon not cold?

There are two common culprits. Most often, the internal filters and cooling coils are heavily clogged with dust, which simply blocks the cold air from getting out. The other possibility is that your unit is low on refrigerant (gas) due to a leak. When we come down to service your unit, we always check the gas levels to figure out exactly what’s going on.

Does servicing a ceiling cassette create a mess in my office or home?

Not at all. We know how important it is to protect your property. Our Letscool technicians always lay down drop cloths and protective plastic sheets over your furniture and floors before we even start. We also use specialized wash bags so all the dirty water flows directly into our buckets, leaving your space exactly as clean as we found it.

What is the difference between a general wash and a chemical overhaul for a cassette unit?

Think of a general wash as your regular upkeep—we clean the filters, outer covers, and the parts we can easily reach. A chemical overhaul is a complete, deep-cleaning reset. We dismantle the unit, take out the blower and cooling coils, and treat them with specialized chemicals to strip away stubborn mold, bacteria, and jelly-like blockages hidden deep inside.

Why are the lights on my ceiling cassette aircon blinking?

Blinking lights are basically your aircon’s way of saying it has an internal error. It usually points to a communication breakdown between the indoor and outdoor units, a faulty temperature sensor, or a tripped water pump. When it starts blinking, it’s best to have a professional come in to run a proper diagnostic check so we can pinpoint the exact issue.
